British Invasion

I was just browsing through the October issue of Elle Decoration UK and was loving it!

Alongside well known names such as Osborne and Little, Cole and Son, and Sanderson, exciting British products abound. Up first, are the magazine's pics for the best new fabrics and wallpapers.  According to Elle, the big, bold retro patterns that were the talk of last spring, have been replaced with quieter florals and natural forms.  I was pleased to see my top wallpaper pick for my own home (ostrich but in the white/black colourway for me,) included in the showcase.

Beware the Moon- Ostrich wallpaper

Osborne and Little-Maharani fabric

Cole and Son- Tropical Birds wallpaper

Abigail Borg- Mr Chrysanth fabric

Miller Harris- Pom Flower wallpaper by Karen Beauchamp

Manuel Canovas-Tortuga fabric
Next, the shortlist for best British pattern 2010

Abigail Borg- Friti fabric

Elsie Dodds- Alphabet cushion front

Elsie Dodds- Alphabet back

The Rug Company- We Had Everything wall hanging

Camilla Meijer- Roseflower wallpaper
There are many more selections in the magazine but I included only my very favourites.  At the top of the pile for me, is the Abigail Borg fabric- I am thinking that it might just be the jumping off point for my master bedroom that I have been looking for.  There is already a lot of lavender and grey in the room, and I am hoping to panel/paint the walls white in the next few weeks, so dare I say... PERFECTION!!  I am also considering those Elsie Dodds cushions for our playroom- I love how whimsical they are with the pictures all starting with the corresponding letter on the back; cute and educational!
The 21st anniversary edition of Elle Decoration UK was quite an enjoyable read indeed- it fed my fabric and wallpaper obsession for at least a few days:)

  1. So many beautiful patterns! My favorite is the osborne and little fabric. I too loooove fabrics. I could go crazy purchasing fabrics, trims etc. They bring so much life, texture and pattern into a room! Hope you had a great day!
