My Black Bathroom...in Progress

As promised yesterday, a few snapshots of my newly blackened bathroom.

First, in Instagram...

And then the regular shots...

In my perfect world, it would be wallpapered instead of painted but for now, the black is making me happy.

I still have a few little things to do/buy...a little rug is first on the list...would LOVE a pinkish Persian.

I also want to remove the towel bar above the toilet so I can plant a fabulous piece of art there...priorities;)

And I MUST replace the really ugly light that's presently above the mirror...in a perfect world, I'll have a pair of sconces on either side of the mirror.

Oh and I need new hardware on the vanity...the ones that are there now don't have long enough posts so they actually completely don't work.

So yes...still a little bucket list of things to do but for now, it's black and I like it.

Painting bathrooms in noir goodness is a perfect way to try out dark walls, if you're a little chicken to do it elsewhere...they're small rooms and easy to paint over if you don't like.

For some added inspiration, a few gorgeous blackened bathrooms from the interwebs...

Pinned Image

I love all the layering in each of these spaces and I'd love to plaster some b/w photography all over the walls of mine.

Add it to the list...the VERY long list;)

Happy weekend lovers.

  2. I absolutely love it! I wouldn't have ever thought of painting (or wallpapering) a bathroom black but does it ever look fabulous!

  3. I completely approve of the black! Its great in a small space like this. I'm sitting here wondering how you do it...How do you find the time??

  4. I adore it!!! I've been trying to talk my Mom into painting her powder room and wonderfully rich, dark colour.... I think my father is the harder sell. We just don't have a bathroom I want to paint dark, maybe in our next home?

  6. I love the black, it is so rich looking & I have no doubt that it will be totally fab once you knock those other item off your list! A few month ago I painted my powder room with some high gloss black, what a difference it makes, high impact for little price.

  7. Your bathroom is so gorgeous as is already Christine! So glam!! I love your mirror and the faucet! Where is the faucet from?

Love wallpaper in bathroom as well. I will paperback fabric one day in my future powder room. Love the crystal lake by Robert Allen!

  9. A pinkish Persian you say? Here's a GORGEOUS one from Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/75702137/coral-handmade-vintage-persian-rug

Not sure what the size that your bathroom is but that rug is on the smaller side, so it might just be perfect! It's so pretty!!

  10. OMG I am dying for 2 reasons! 1 your space looks delish and uber chic <3 and 2 because that first pic is the exact inspiration I used for my hall powder room. Inky navy walls...glossy of course. Marble top...coming next week! It's my screen saver at this very moment! Ha to funny!

  12. Totally LOVE it!! It's amazing how painting a little space completely changes it!! Now I'm thinking about how to change my powder room off my kitchen (although I totally hate that it's there) I wish I had a bit more of a budget to afford marble. Oh those grains... They just make me drool. I'm insanely jealous.

    Much Love,

  15. Wow!!! I think the space turned out amazing!! This is a great example of a dark color not necessarily making a room look smaller...love the "extra little touches" too!

  25. looks fab! i'm thinking of something similar for our powder room...would LOVE wallpaper, but the vanity needs to come out to make room for the perfect pedestal sink, so a rich, dark color will suit for the time-being. black is definitely a contender, especially after seeing this! ox

Not sure if you follow me on Pinterest, but what I am dying for is this "Lush" wallpaper by Mary Kysar.. I have white penny tile now with white bead board... was thinking of painting the top rim a high gloss black then going with this.. tho will prob just end up painting as well! Rome wasn't built in a day!

  47. LOVE....I'm actually hoping to paint my bathroom black this weekend.... like you I'd like to wallpaper but its not going to happen as of now so black seemed 2nd best. I'm a terrible painter so this could be disasterous and I'm almost certain I'll have to call in a professional to fix it but at least if I start it it will get finished ;) Your bathroom looks great. What kind of finish did you use? No windows in my bathroom.

  48. I precisely wanted to thank you so much again. I am not sure the things that I would have handled without the type of tactics shown by you concerning such question. It had become a distressing setting for me, nevertheless coming across your specialized approach you dealt with that forced me to weep with gladness. Now i'm happier for this support and as well , believe you really know what an amazing job that you're providing training people with the aid of your web blog. Most probably you have never got to know any of us.
