I was tickled Belgian beige when I opened up an invitation to media preview of the
Oakville Princess Margaret Showhome...a weekday event around the corner from my house, with food, drink, no kids and a gorgeous house....pretty much a no brainer there.
Designed by Lynda Reeves and the House and Home team, the house is a total fantasy dream home...the herringbone floors throughout were enough to send my brain into 'I want it/life's not fair/I deserve that' mode...I also was insanely in love with the plaster wall treatment, yellow kitchen, Barcelona clad entryway, ginormous basement area with full sized windows and a laundry room that took my heart rate up by a few notches, vintage 'Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe' wardrobe and most importantly....the wine room...more on that later.
A small preview of the pics I snapped while there...mixed with a few 'real' shots from the Conquer Cancer website...
Let's start on the mainfloor...
And then move upstairs...
And finally, the lower level...
And we'll end this tour where any good one should end...the booze room...
note my excitement as I try to wrench open the boozer doors;)
PS....thanks Vie for this shot...touring the house with you, Vanessa and Wendy made the morning even more delightful!
If you live in the even slightly near Toronto, you must visit this $4million/6800 square feet piece of house heaven...the schedule of open times can be found here.
And to buy your ticket, visit the Princess Margaret Welcome Home Sweepstakes website...such an amazingly important cause and there's a bucket of faboosh prizes...with of course this dream home being topsy tops.
Thanks for the invite House and Home/Lisa!!
Later skaters.
xo
Beautiful. I love peeking into homes like that.
ReplyDeleteIs that you trying to break into the liquor cabinet?
Yes, it was great touring with you too! Your photos came out great - I will getting my post up at some point this week. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat house is ridiculous. I can't get my mind around the scale of it. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI like elements of it but not all of it as a whole. I watched all of the videos on the H&H site the other day to get a feel for the home. The kitchen at first excited me then I just kept thinking 'I would have done this, this, this, & this' HA! Oh well, kudos for the chevron hardwood and a fun day out for you. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis house is insane.. in the best way possible. Booze room!? That laundry room!? All the charm. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWould have loved to go on a tour of this home! ps 13.5 wks now, and feeling just as sickly as day 1. ugh!
ReplyDeleteI was so bummed to miss the tour but looks like you westenders had fun! That sewing/laundry room is to die for. Always love the showhomes that H&H creates though I think last year's Cape Cod is still my favourite.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful space! That laundry room is INSANE. It might make even make you WANT to do laundry.
ReplyDeleteNot much to complain about here. It's a lovely home that should appeal to the masses.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised there are so few rugs. The chevron floors make up for it, though!
PS- aren't you having a fun week :)
Can't wait to get my copy of the magazine in the mail. I love the wide hallways, chevron floors and that fab tub! Thanks for taking us on the tour.
ReplyDeleteLUCKY! I want to win so I can be your neighbour around the corner. xo
ReplyDeleteMajorly swoon worthy!!! I just love those herringbone floors and those huge windows. The curtains are also gorge as are those mirrors on the walls in the living room. And those chairs? I nearly hit the floor!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Absolutely gorgeous. Those floors? Insane!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness all of the bedrooms look so cozy!
ReplyDeleteThe herringbone floors are UNREAL. Beautiful and the wine room?!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and what a fun day that must have been :) PS, can't help but notice how long your hair has gotten- looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour - I always visit the homes and cottages each year but not this year from Dubai. Love those floors!
ReplyDeleteWow, everything looks really great! What a fun day! xx
ReplyDeleteoh my gawwwhhh.. I"m totally drooling.. is that a craft room.. like a craft room on crack! How fun to see in person. And speaking of in person... I think we'd be good friends... especially since you say later skaters! Hope you are well, Christine!
ReplyDeletexoxo Trina
Nothing you can really say except GORGEOUS. Those floors...I die. Hope you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteCan't decide if I love or hate those huge mirrors?? They're something different there, which I always like.
ReplyDeleteHey, how about that bed?!! The first one...love love love. I'm digging the overall look of this home a LOT. Minimalist chic?
:O That LAUNDRY ROOM IS INCREDIBLE!! I would not have issues doing laundry anymore if I was doing it in a room like that! Also I totally love that craft/office room. And the kitchen! Ah, so much eye candy. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThose floors and the laundry room - simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, lucky you! The house looks incredible; you had me at those gorgeous white window shutters! I just love the bathroom with the wallpaper and that fabulous-looking bath! xx
ReplyDeleteLove that 1st bedroom! xo
ReplyDeleteI seriously can't take it, the architecture of this home is stunning, classic, not over the top, just perfect. You are too funny!! Did you get away with one? Janell
ReplyDeleteI have been drooling over this house...
