We started with:
10 panels of IKEA Vivian sheers
5 IKEA Kvartal single track rails
6 IKEA Kvartal ceiling fixtures
4 packages of IKEA Riktig gathering tape
3 packages of iron on binding tape from Michael's
First, I ironed on the gathering tape using two stripes of binding tape- I did this for each panel and made sure that the gathering tape was placed over the tabs that were originally on the back of the Vivian shears (the gathering tape was almost the exact width of the top seam on the back of the shears.) While I was doing this (and may I say it took quite a long time- maybe 3 hours all in,) my husband installed the track on the ceiling, which he said was pretty straight forward. After the ceiling rails were up, we had to put the little white plastic loops into the rail (these are what the drapery hooks attach to.) Next, the two of us sat for a few hours and put the draping hooks into the gathering tape- not really a fun job and rather finicky but again, worth it in the end. Finally, it was simply a matter of attaching the curtain panels to the hooks- this was easy and only took a few minutes. I spent some time evening out the pleats and voila- long wall of shear delight!
There are still alot of things I hope to do with this room but am content for now with my new pretty shears. And PS, please ignore missing bedding; my son drew on it with a sharpie earlier in the day. Also please ignore those strange white things on the floor- same little monster threw the containers of drapery loops in the air...multiple times.
