Wednesday Wallpaper- Claire Coles

Sometimes you stumble across an image that literally stops you in your tracks.  For me, this happened the first time I saw  Claire Coles's bespoke wallpaper- I actually gasped.  For those of you who might know about her work, here's the skinny.  Claire designs couture paper that is made from vintage wallpapers that she finds from local shops; she layers the patterns and uses silk embroidery and leather to create new scenes.  All of Claire's papers are handmade to order.  In her words, the papers "transform walls into individual works of art....they create a rich opulent feeling to any setting."  Definitely not wallpaper that everyone can afford to purchase in large quantities but paper that everyone can afford to be inspired by.  I would be thrilled to own even a small piece and would delight in the beauty that a picture frame filled with her work would bring to my room (and I realize that I am totally gushing but her papers are that amazing.) So...without further ado, here is her line.

Midnight Garden

 Tropical Paradise

Paris

 Digital

My favourite is Midnight Garden.  I love how it was used in Ted Baker's UK studio- the mix of modern architecture and Claire's vintage paper is the stuff dreams are made of (my dreams anyways:)  I also adore the digital print- the colourful flowers and little bees and deers...it's just so lovely.  You can actually purchase a 50x50cm piece of this one for about $50 on Claire's website.  She also has accessories for sale and my favourite are these adorable (and very well named) woodland pictures- how sweet would they be in a nursery or little one's room?

Betsy the Bunny

 Olly the Owl

Dixie the Deer

And that ladies and gentlemen, concludes our tour for now....but, there's a little more in store.  I've actually just finished a bijou bedroom designed around Claire's Midnight Garden- I'm hoping to post it later today and would love to know what you think:)

  2. so pretty! My fave is the second one down and the whimsical animals. Oohhh, I'm getting excited about my move and my decorating possibilities. You're inspiring me to wallpaper a bit more! I already wanted to so an upper portion in the dining room like the Sarah's House dining room in her country home (know it?).

  3. Know it and love it! I would love to paper back my favourite canovas fabric (like she did in that room )but to do that same treatment with but it is pretty expensive- fabric costs much more (by the metre rather than a roll of paper which is almost 11 yrads usually.) And definitely, wallpaper away- there are so many amazing patterns out there. I need a bigger house so I can buy more paper!
