Helllllooooooo.
It's Wednesday...but damn if it doesn't feel like Friday.
On the positive side of things, who else is letting out a GIANT sigh of relief re: the US election?
THANK CHRIST is all I have to say.
That tea party business makes my brain want to explode.
Moving on.
I've got a few fun updates to share today...lots of stuff in the works.
To being with, #projectlittlemiss is trucking right along...new flooring has gone in and wallpaper is going up next week.
We've made a lot of purchases and as of now, the board is looking like this (please excuse crappy/no background removal...I finally got my fancy laptop back all fixed up, only to find out that it has some counterfeit version of Microsoft so now my good Powerpoint is on the fritz AGAIN...the computer pox sadly continues)...
Since my last update, we've:
1. bought 12 yards of amazing Schumacher lace fabric from the fabulous Shannon over at Designer's Attic...this loveliness will soon be made into hanging panels for the closet and a balloon shade for the window...pretty, pretty.
2. had the vanity we purchased from my favourite Petits et Jolis painted in a glorious Black Beauty by Benjamin Moore, with some added gold detailing...much like this...

Yummy.
3. added these Lily Pulitzer pillows and foot stool from my friend/sponsor Pillotopia...

...along with this fun vanity chair...

4. bought the most incredible bookcase from Black Rooster...

...but in white...sadly the black was already sold out.
So...we're having it painted...I'd love your help on this actually...looking at the board above, what do you think?
I'd love a vote.
Choices are:
1. soft pink
2. mint
3. kelly green
4. black
5. something else entirely?
And I think that's all on #projectlittlemiss for now...stay tuned...install is happening as we speak so the final reveal should be before the new year!!
On another related note...is it obvious how much I adore my sponsor
Black Rooster?
I'm pretty sure I've used something from that shop in every board I've ever put together.
I'm particularly obsessed with some of their newly added goodies and have put together a little Holiday Shopping Guide shop with all of my favezies...if you're looking for a little of this action...

...for either yourself or the special people on your list...click HERE and shop away.
Oh how I'd LOVE someone to buy me that lucite/cowhide bench...and the Paule Marrot artwork...and the leopard and/or mink throw...
And finally for today...a little #projectbaby update...I've had a bit of a change of heart on this front...after working on the boards for a few weeks, I realized that they were starting to look/feel a lot like Malcolm's room (i.e. vintage navy library'ish') and I sort of want something really different...so, I'm considering moving in a more regency/glam direction.
I'm thinking of something along these lines...

...the scheme would be black, white, gold and indigo...the photo would be blown up mural size.
I've also come up with a slightly less bananas plan that keeps the dotty wallpaper and just adds a couple of vintage Palm Beach photos...

Honest opinion: I sort of live off doing things that those around me (aka my sisters) think are a little nuts. You have the decorating chops to pull it off, and, yes, it IS a little nutso, but it's also incredibly effing amazing. Ask yourself this: after it's complete and you're waiting for baby cuteness to arrive, will you sit alone in the room and revel in its beauty? Will YOU love it? Whatever you decide, it's beautiful.
I don't love the idea of the blown up poster. But I love the plan for the room. Its gorgeous and a total different direction than Malcom's room. And lOVE the black and white dresser rather than traditional campaign style
i was just thinking to myself - that lady's head is awfully close to the crib in that 70's palm beach blow up in the inspiration nursery. i bet the child would start to notice that as they get older... maybe not? But your pic is more suitable. I actually kinda like this idea. how about something a bit more whimsical - like that black and white of Sean Connery holding his girlfriend's legs while she does a handstand? Still a bit glam. maybe more fun for a nursery?
I'm all for a blown up image for the nursery and I actually like Bethany's suggestion to use one that is a little more whimsical. But I have to say- I have had a blown up print like Dutesco's horses in my kitchen for two years. Nobody gets it but me-and I don't care one bit! Just love the overall plan for the nursery. I hope to take a similar path one day as well. As for that bookcase...oh lordy is that ridiculously awesome. I'd go with it in black or mint (leaning toward mint).
Not a big fan of the couple's blown up image , but the rest is gorgeous .. Bookcase..to die for .. I'd go for black
I love the version of the room with a big picture of Josh and Diane that you could move elsewhere in your house in a few years when your baby is a little boy not interested in a giant mural of two actors in his bedroom.
Also loving the idea of a velvet sofa for future sleepovers and nights with books.
firstly, agreed on the whole election business. Huge sigh of relief there! Secondly, could I love that bookcase anymore? I vote black on the colour. Thirdly, love your babes room board but I am not sold on the huge couple poster....but then again my decor tastes are much 'safer' than yours, and as a result, I dare say not as fabulous.
There is so much pretty going on in this post! I love that bookcase and if it was me, I'd paint that sucker gold!. I also love love the new direction for the nursery,it's very fresh. I think the giant pic is really cool but if you didn't want something so celeb-y maybe you could do a giant print of those beach scenes Vitali did. Or check out surfaceview they have the coolest murals you can crop and blow up to any size you want!
Love.that.black-gold.vanity.and.want.one! Maybe mural is back in trend in nurseries these days. Do you watch Modern Family? The photo certainly looks vintagy for the overall decor but a stupid question, what if they break up. :) You know the mediacircus.
Okay, do I even need to do a nursery board anymore - you basically spoke my mind! Love the regency glam thing. Totally right up my alley for sure! I 100% get why you want to use that picture - it's STUNNING! I do however think it could read a little weird in the space being that it's a boy. I think if you found something beachy (Massimo Vitali-esque) it would totally make the room pop and feel equally as amazing. But again, I see why you want to do it so bad!
I'd paint the bookcase black - but is that a shocker coming from me?! So amazing!

I love the board, but not loving the celebrities on the wall, I think that a vintage hollywood pool/garden mural would be fantastic though!
I would say if you love the couple pic then do it (not getting the same vibe from the palm beach pics), but as someone who works with images in my day job I just don't know if it would be possible. Unless you got the original file for that pic from the photographer, blowing it up would make it EXTREMELY pixelated. They would end up being more like boxy/fuzzy outlines . . . :( :(
LOVE the mural idea, if it were me I'd go more beach/poolside scene, less celeb (but you're you, not me :) ). Something like this pool pic is cool, or even an image like the top pic that has a vintage car! Palm Springs in general would be a good muse for you. Please take note of this incredible lucite side table *faint*!

I like the dotted wallpaper version. It is genius.
There is just so much amazingness in this post! Is it weird that I want to blow up that image to put above my mantel? ha! I think it looks fab but might be something you'd get tired of in the nursery awfully quickly. Although, if you're like me, that's okay and a good excuse to have a rotation of art in that spot?
Love the idea of a mural...not so much them. Surface View has awesome murals....including the Slim Aarons one in your inspiration nursery. Seriously check them out!!
How about all that rad furniture, but with neutral grasscloth and star wallpaper ceiling? Yeah, I know that's not the idea you presented but I can't help being a busybody.
Not feeling the people mural... sorry.
Who is the artist of the sweet girl painting for the room you are working on?
Oh my oh my...you obviously already have *quite* enough on the opinion end, so I'm just going to gush, m'kay??? Could that birdcage shelf be any cuter?!? I think not. And darn it if I don't think that you make *everything* look incredible so I really have no room for commenting...unless I'm saying that I desperately need something black and gold in my life, like, yesterday.
P.S. I couldn't be more in agreement about that blasted election. *SO* freakin' pleased it's just donezo.
Mint baby. Mint. Love me some mint and that would jive perfectly!
I love the old nursery plans, but these are equally appealing!
I'm thinking mint for that super amazing bookshelf!
xx
The photo is so romantic & I LOVE the idea of it as a mural, even in a wee babes room. However, one day, you will have to change it. Wee babe will become a wee lad & you'll either have to cover it up (holy more money) or your kiddo will have to explain to all his friends why there is some chick & dude on his wall, & that will only lend itself to torment. If it had been for a girl you could keep it forever. But, what the heck do I know! I just can't stop staing at her dress. So pretty!
I love that dresser!! It's gorgeous. Can't wait to see your DIY!!!

I've just discovered your blog and love the stuff that you put together. Just wondering where you sourced the fabulous light from?
Who makes that dresser??? It is perfection.
