Trip

Here is a little picture tour of my weekend in Chicago.
I absolutely love the city and feel so at home every time I'm there.

First, here are some shots I took out the plane window.

And the reason I took that little plane ride...this sweet cupcake.

I arrived on Friday afternoon and my brother in law served us an amazing turkey dinner.
After the spoils, we headed to the town square for the cities tree lighting ceremony.
It honestly felt like a movie set- so idealistic and charming.

I was only there for one full day so we packed a lot of visiting into too short a trip.

Though we spent a lot of the weekend catching up (and shopping,) one of the highlights of my trip was a visit to the Chicago Botanical Gardens.
I'm not really a garden person but this place was absolutely breathtaking.

My sister and her family actually live in Lake Forest, a suburb of Chicago and it is one of the prettiest places I have been to in quite some time.

My trip was short but I loved every second of it.
Being an aunt is such a special thing and I hope my little niece knows how very much her auntie loves her.

In other news....
I'll be kicking off some holiday cheer tomorrow...Dec.1st is my official start date for all things Christmas.

Art- Amanda Wachob

I just discovered this artist and am in awe of her work.
Ms. Wachob works with two mediums...tattoo ink and paint.
Her work 'blurs the lines between fine art and body art'.
Each piece is evocative and filled with spirit.

Here's a look at her canvas portfolio.

Would die a happy lady for any of these pieces.
I love their female perspective, bold colour and storied composition.

And now, a small sampling of Amanda's tattoo portfolio.

I'm seriously thinking of taking a trip to NYC.
Can a tattoo be a Christmas wish item because if so, I'll take one please.
The abstracts are so different from anything I've seen before and her use of colour is inspired.
Stunning artwork.

A Tour and a Bijou Room

A quick tour of a home desiged by Redmond Aldrich
-aka Chloe Warner-
Domino pegged her style as 'sophisticated frou frou' and if this is what she's selling, I'm buying.
Take a look at this San Fransisco home; her latest project to be posted.

This home perfectly illustrates that a creamy neutral palate is timeless and there is elegance in simplicity.

Using this space as inspiration, I came up with a design for my sister's foyer.
Her new home has a sweet little vestibule when you come in through the front door that is just crying for a little special.

And with that, I'm off to enjoy my last day in Chicago.
Hoping you've all had a fabulous holiday weekend.
